Game Review: New Feature

Go to "Home" and it's a big banner at the top, IF you are a diamond member.

Also, you have to play a game now (since it's new) to use it afterward.

You can run it on any old unanalyzed games. I also believe going into a previous analysis will rerun with the new code.

I feel like there's less incentive to pay as a gold member now.  The game report was great–recommending lessons, showing lines that explained why your move was good or bad.  I feel like I've lost a huge amount of analytical functionality now and I'm still paying the same price.  It's really frustrating that this new feature seems like it's just an excuse to hide some of the perks of the game report behind an even bigger paywall.  Maybe it's way better but a lot of players including myself are never gonna know because we don't want to pay for an even more expensive plan.  It really just feels like people who are not paying for the top tier membership just got robbed of a feature that they've always had access to.  And yeah, you can toggle between the analysis and game report tabs, but what's the genuine benefit of making it more of a pain to find out why a move you made was bad?  This feels like a purely for-profit decision and really makes me feel disrespected as a paying member of the site.

Yeah big agree here. Feels pretty bad to consider Gold or Platinum at any point, but I'm not going to pay double just for this feature. I'll let my membership lapse at end of period and head back to Lichess I reckon.

As I understand it, all of the old Report info will stay, plus the option for move explanations, which is a gimmick anyway, no point paying diamond for it.

I'd consider diamond for unlimited lessons and video access if I had an unlimited amount of time for chess, not for this nonsense. It's trying to make an impression as if it was 3500+ rated human teaching you chess, it's however just a bunch of simple words slapped over stockfish's best line and has nothing to do with how humans play, learn and teach chess.

If you can't understand the engine lines from the analysis tab, then this feature is not going to help. We'll need to wait until Maia chess is trained on grandmasters' games and there is an AI that will translate its play into human language. Then a feature like this will be worth paying for. Until then, it's a marketing gimmick.

Well I'll be upgrading. I think this feature is going to be helpful.

It might be helpful, I just don't think it's worth the upgrade by itself. But you'll get all the other unlimited features, so altogether good value if you can make use of the lessons, puzzles etc.

The Explanations are hardly worth the cost of an upgrade to Diamond. What really bugs me is the constant messages to upgrade to Diamond. After seeing "Want to hear more -upgrade" for the n-teenth time I am ready to go back to Chess Tempo or Lichess or ANYWHERE there is not  incessant begging for more of my $$$$$

Ziryab

I'm Diamond for the videos. I would not upgrade for the game review.

Google annofritz; you'll read about something every bit as good that is still available and has been around twenty years or so. The cost of a one-year Diamond will give you the software for as long as you own your computer.

I agree, that is truly disgusting🤢🤮 I just look up the review, the original report info on accuracy and moves and then head to the analysis tab.

Agreed.

I sent a suggestion/complaint to chess.com. Everyone who finds it annoying and insulting should do the same

Here is a better and more effective move. Do I like am doing, check out the competition. Since being a Gold member, I have not strayed from Chess.com. However the constant noise to upgrade in the New Review has me looking at Lichess and Chess Tempo, one of which had me as a paying member in the past. happy.png  Also I am seriously looking at Decodechess which has improved since I last looked at it. Furthermore Decodechess can be had right now for $44 a year which seems like quite a bargain. Since my Chess.com Gold expires in a few months, if the constant noise to upgrade to Diamond does not go away, I will go away.... happy.pnghappy.png

I vote for the old Game Report feature to at least be an option to Game Review.  In that way we could try both features and see which we like best.  Regardless, this is the best chess site I've seen on the internet other than one feature.  There should be chat rooms AND forums where we could discuss politics and religion.

Join a club. Anyway, this is a chess site. Why discuss religion and politics?

There are several groups where you can discuss politics and religion.

Open Discussion, for instance.

The Ideas Room, if you prefer the company of right-wing children.

Acropolis of Discussion (highly selective regarding membership)

Search clubs.

Obispooscuro

I definitely prefer the Game Report function - missing it already

Game Review gave us both 100% accuracy although I won with Fool's Mate...surprise.png
