What about being paid for succesfully solving puzzles at chess.com?
GET PAID FOR PLAYING CHESS

Not bad...besides being paid for being successful at some test or something similar is quite within rewarding the intellectual effort...very sporty!

offhand i would say that the easiest way to get paid for paying chess is to teach it. Although i don't do it myself i do have some friends of mine (who are also strong players) who earn some extra money this way.

I still believe that the winners of tournaments should be rewarder with something else than medals, these are very nice, but some bux would be great

Well, thats cool. But I agree with Reza. They certanly should pay some real prizes for a tournaments. Maybe not for all tournaments, but at least for the biggest of them.

Chess will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no chess.

Jesus Christ! I can dream all I want of getting an A in class however it doesn't happen with my 3 F's so far. haha However when I started studying and putting in the effort I got an A.
So... assuming that you're still taking the same number of classes, now you have 1 A and 2 F's?

Thanks David for the link you sent. Nevertheless, the website you showed us seems to be a betting one, even though it's closed right now. We are talking about making payments to players as a reward to their wins, rate of participation on social events in chess.com as forums etc; and we are searching for a fair method to implement this idea which is welcomed by the great majority of our members.

All right pals, as they say in Turkey: "Communists we'll be all the way,...till the day we find money!".

Doesn't really matter how many members like the idea. The finances for doing something like that don't really make much sense. The draw to a site like this is primarily the chess, then the learning materials, then the social aspects.
Having titled players helps with all those aspects; chances to potentially play them, blogs and forum posts by them, etc.
So the site has events where titled players can win money. Beyond that, paying normal members might be something they might do but those normal members would have to provide, or already be preparing quality, original content that could potentially draw new members.
being paid to click on ads is not the same as being paid to play chess. As pointed out by others, chess.com is unlikely to spend money to pay someone unless this ultimately generates additional revenue for the company (and the revenue exceeds the expense of the payments made). The "clicking on ads" proposal has superficial merit, given that chess.com derives revenues from ads and presumably clickthrough. However, once the advertisers catch on that folks are simply clicking on ads to earn money and not because of any interest in the advertised product or service, they will stop advertising on chess.com or reduce their payments. Advertisers are not stupid; they will not pay for ads unless it results in more sales revenue in the long run.
