I think the biggest news for me was that there's a GM with the awesome name of Shankland. The name is intimidating enough to force a resignation - for me, it produces the image of a heavily stacked, baggy eyelidded, bull-eyed, bowler hat crowned gangster, with a golden chain necklace and an intimdating glare that says "one way or another, you will lose this game" and a history of opponents that have suffered knife wounds.

The internet reveals that GM Shankland looks nothing like this.
