Grandpa needs advice

I'm setting up a streaming channel to play chess and talk about American politics. I'm a 68 year old guy who likes to play chess, not well I'm afraid, and I want to get in touch with young smart people who  want to talk about politics. Sort of asking the question, "What if a political discussion started at the chess club?"

Do you think there would be an interest in the concept of Grandpa playing chess and talking about 2024 for a couple of hours?

you're old enough to know there is no such thing as politics. political debates, wars and everything else is all about money..

I really think it will be fun. I've been practicing, and it is very, very hard. Hopefully, I'll improve. Please join me. It's up to you guys to make it fun. I'm going to have fun, no matter what, despite the very serious nature of the purpose. For many of you, 2024 is going to determine the country you live in for the rest of your life. Folks better be motivated to learn what's really going on.

Let Pa. eat dinner, sleep, and talk about politics. There are 24 hours in a day after all.

Try YouTube. My dream is that someone will create a website where people will talk about chess and only chess. I'm in my 60s, and I don't expect to see such a website in my lifetime.

Or, you could join a club here. The last club I was in on this site was more interested in talking about "woke" and religion than chess.

Go for it! Why not try? Let the naysayers flap all they want, it's good exercise.

Keep chess and politics apart.

I would have a problem with that because I'm so bad at chess. No doubt some will come to laugh at my play, but hopefully we will have good conversations that might interest you. 2024 is going to be a very long, and probably ugly year. Maybe we can learn and have some fun.

Yes, the noisy try to drown out facts, but we have to keep restating them, and some don't even know what the facts are. It's hard to be the good guys and follow the rules. Must easier to knock down than build up, but we are going to try. Plus, have some fun. That's not the point, but the goal. I find "woke" to be as ridiculous as "saved."

I understand what you are saying, but if we don't have success in Nov, there might be a lot less chess, a lot less of everything. Ignoring it has not improved it. I love to play chess. I have the freedom to play. First, they come for freedom. Then, they will come for chess.

There are two sides to the chessboard, and both sides of the discussion are welcome. Well, except for maybe those who think the election was stolen. There might not be a welcoming audience for them. Otherwise, anything will be fair game.

Thanks for the discussion and encouragement. I hope this will be a community. It's important. My goal is to have a test run next week.

++ If World War III breaks out over Ukraine, Gaza, or Taiwan there might be no chess at all.

As for interest.... I don't really think so....

But you should try out the live stream of course, and if you want to talk about "young smart people", you should definitely join those clubs.
