Happy birthday !!!
HAPPY 12TH BIRTHDAY CHESS.COM

It's been a good few years! You were here almost from the start.
I hit ten years later this year, although I didn't really get involved in the community at all until 2015 - I just played my own games, mostly via the facebook app.

In the years Ive been here its changed quite a bit , Ive had my complaints about some things, but its still the number one site for me.
Hi Jules.

To celebrate perhaps chess.com will gift everyone in this thread with a free diamond membership.
Happy birthday!

Good to see you sweetie........I mean.....Retired Workaholic.
LOL @ that, has some new rule been set I haven't known about? that we all have to refer to each other by our proper full usernames?
Oh and it beats the fact I just got invited to an all male group called "Big Boys Club"
Not sure what to say to that without being muted hahahahahaha. (and yes, I actually do have tears in my eyes from laughing at that), It has so many ahem meanings/connotations to it tho
And fyi sweetie is fine 👍 brb lost my damn lighter again!
Ugh got logged off looking for it. I think today is only the second time in 2 weeks I've actually been awake longer than an hour! Not joking either It means I'm both missing medication times and becoming severely dehydrated. I hate being sick and knowing its never going to get better, only worse. I want my life back!
But atleast I know I can always count on you too make me laugh, you always have 😁
Hows life treating you cariad?
(cariad is a Welsh word, a term of endearment) its used a lot here in Wales.
And yeah its been a while since I last logged in, but I knew if I didn't post this, no-one other than us original staff would remember, or know about.

Amazing!
I first joined this site in 2009, just for playing, tactics, and some forum posting.
It has been a great 10 years on this site, and yes, lucky 13 next year .

Happy birthday to one of my favorite sites. I joined in October of 2008 and I have enjoyed many a night on here. Here's to many more, chess.com.

@batgirl
May I ask you a question please.
Do you know when Dr. Max Euwe visited Rhodesia / Zimbabwe in his capacity as FIDE president?
It is one of my very first memories of chess, seeing him walking out of the main school hall / assembly.
It was either just before but probably soon after the civil war ended, I have searched quite a few times on the internet but can not find anything.
Thank you.
That would have been in 1974.

In the years Ive been here its changed quite a bit , Ive had my complaints about some things, but its still the number one site for me.
Hi Jules.
Hey
Sorry, I wasn't intentionally ignoring you, I just hadn't seen your post, otherwise would definitely have replied while I was on here. Sorry I haven't been on for a while, I got knocked sideways by a bug which has taken me some time to shift. Hope you're doing well, and as always, its good to see you
HAPPY 12TH BIRTHDAY TODAY CHESS.COM 🎂
Today, back in 2007 Chess.com first opened its doors to the public.
Since first celebrating its 100th member it has come on in leaps and bounds.
Its seen Versions 1, 2 and currently 3 added to it, its opened its chess site, chesskid.com specifically for under 16 year olds, its seen both members and staff come and go throughout those 12 years, and now with its many many thousands of current members, its still going strong. (I won't post its exact amount of members, as it will always be disputed and ruin the thread)
It is a very happy day for the site, its members, all of its hard working volunteers and moderators and especially its hard working staff, past and present, many of whom have put in countless hours on a daily basis to make sure the site runs at its best for its much loved and loyal members, both long time like Batgirl (who has added, if you look at her profile, hundreds of excellent, well researched, articulate, knowledgeable articles) to the members who join now on a daily basis.
Even the site owner himself (who is actually far too modest) has written several articles himself (14 of them) about how the site started, its ups and downs to its current day, and has also added videos and interviews where he discusses the site creation, how it all started. Its all worth the time and effort to watch and read
So today, on your 12th year open, I wish you a very happy birthday and much love to all its members and staff - known and unknown to the members (many if whom I've had the privilege of spending years of working alongside and can still call my friend).
HAPPY 12TH BIRTHDAY CHESS.COM, AND MANY MANY MORE!
