Have "Brilliant Moves" Changed

The brilliant moves definition has been the same for a while now. It's a sacrifice that is best or good and there is some influence based on rating. A brilliant move for a lower rated player may not be for a higher rated one

I know Missed Wins is changing to Miss and there may be some additional tweaks, but I don't know if that's made it out of beta yet.
As far as I know, this should be accurate still and it's been a while since the last major change.

Calibration seems a bit off.. I’m getting “great moves” for capturing hanging pieces or by simply re-capturing on exchanges

If you mean has brilliant moves changed since it was first introduced, then yes. Brilliant moves when they were first introduce was if you played a move that the engine didn't realise was good until you played it. Now, brilliant moves are just moves that the engine thinks is hard to find. For lower rated players, brilliant moves are awarded more leniently, which chess.com calls encouragement, but I think they're probably just looking for more money from beginners buying premium. It does work though, people are buying premium just for the brilliant moves.
A true brilliant move satisfies 4 criteria
- It is a winning move: losing or drawing moves are not brilliant
- It is unique: when 2 moves win, then none is brilliant
- It involves a sacrifice: that is aesthetically pleasing
- It is a quiet move: no check (+) or capture (x): those are too obvious to be brilliant

Yes , it can be captures . It can be checks too , when you sacrifice a rook , queen , bishop or any other piece ( mostly valuable ones ) like in the 'Daily Puzzle' when you analyze it

It can be captures. I've had brilliant moves that were captures before.
@tygxc isn't talking about how it's implemented here but a suggestion definition of what it should be.

I don't think chess.com would change it though. Beginners buying diamond membership just for the brilliant moves probably generates a lot of revenue for chess.com.
