Your opponent really played bad at the end... But good job.
Rate this game 1-10 (my first checkmate!
You hung a knight and queen in the first 5 moves. You should be concentrating on how to play better instead of asking people to rate the mate.
He's 100 chill be nicer
Being nice doesnt help. Being honest does. If you need things candy coated thats on you. But posting a horribly played game and the only thing you are asking is how good was the mate? Thats a recipe for no improvement at all. But it will get you the ego feed youre after.
Don’t be down by these comments. You played well, and you make mistakes as you play. Even Magnus Carlsen was a beginner! I rate it 10/10 if you enjoyed it, and learned something.
People don't learn or improve if all they get is approval for doing dumb things.
How is 1. e4 d5 2. exd5 c6 3. Nc3?! cxd5 4. Nxd5?? Qxd5 5.Qh5???? 10/10?
It is perfection only as an example of what not to do.
Not a single one of the comments criticizing the game offer any substantial advice though.
What do you think you offered when you said "It's a silly joke by a kid?" It's criticism without any advice, so really just an insult. At the very least, the comments congratulating him on his win don't potentially embarrass or demotivate him.
Criticism is fine if it is constructive. Just calling the game "silly" is useless.
I suppose I come from a different chess background, where if you play a terrible game full of blunders but somehow come out on top, the game is still terrible and the analysis of it will point this out. Only by recognizing the terrible nature of the moves made will any progress be made. Chess, at least to me, has never been about making people feel good. People need to be motivated to make good moves instead of klunks. That motivation can only come from a desire within the player to improve. Giving patronizing praise instead of harsh criticism is just not my thing.
