How do I report cheaters?

I was in a game a would have won on time with a higher rated opponent. He had ~6 seconds left and boom now he has 35 seconds (greater than my 31 seconds left). Unless there is an option that allows an extra 30 seconds per move I'd have to say he was hacking/cheating something.

* He continued to gain additional time even _without_ moving for the remainder of the game and of course I lost.

Sadly I was so angry that I didn't think to take screen shots :-(

In case any admins are interested I do have the players name written down- feel free to contact me.

If I am missing something here please let me know...

:/

For people who think that winning on time is cheap - grow up it's a rule just like the rules for castling. If I outsmarted you so that you can't win within allotted time I deserve the win.

Cheesed

Paul.

Chances are, he was experiencing lag; the system compensates automatically. He wasn't cheating, his internet connection was just bad. (If he didn't know you made your move until thirty seconds after you made it, it's only fair he gets those thirty seconds back, right?)

thats for verbal abuse - no mention of cheating...

This is fairly common in live chess, it occurs when it takes a while for you to register his move, and the clocks respond accordingly. While you thought he was taking awhile to respond, he was sitting there waiting for your response, probably seeing your clock almost expire. There is no foul play involved.

There is a game option where you obtain the time of your opponent, ie if you move ten seconds quicker than them you get that time added to your clock. It sounds like you were playing that set up without knowing it, it could also have been lag as mentioned. He may also have been using the premove feature so that his moves lose him no time, if he was and you were playing the form mentioned earlier it would have seemed impossible to catch up with him...

my opponents often "jump" in 30 seconds at a time when on live chess.

completely common no OMGWTHHAXORS

Allright folks, thanks for the input, I just found it odd that this was not going on for the first 19 minutes of the game (10 min each) and in the last 30 seconds for both of us all of a sudden it became really apparent when I was about to win on time with the opponent at 6 seconds of time left bouncing to ~36 and gaining w/o moving.

It is possible this was goin on before and I did not notice. Unlikely but possible.

Appreciate the input, can't say I'm happy, moving on.

Paul <-- covered in cheese.

for me it usually occurs throughout.... but I highly highly doubt your opponent was hacking the livechess server to give him 30 more seconds per move... the odds.... why not just use a cpu if your gonna cheat like that lol.

I've played a lot of games on live chess, and have had the lag occur both throughout the game and start occurring very late in the game when I was low on time, which was a real nuisance having to stand on edge so as to spend very little time making my move.

The same thing happened to me recently - my opponent's clock giving him several seconds every time it was near 00:00. When the game ended I asked him about it and he said it was magic!!

I don't think it was due the lag thing because his "magic clock show" began only towards the game's end, not before.

Fortunatly I managed to win anyway. I can't remember his nickname, though; magicianfromhell, maybe?

Haha sounds like a latency/lag issue. Did you know I once lost on time when my opponent had 00:00 on their clock? It was awesome.

Just to be clear, that "Report abuse" link is for ALL abuse, verbal, engine cheats, inappropriate pics/forum posts, all of it.

Its lag.

Avatar of boogaloo

Yeah bro.. definitely lag.  What's really sad is that you probably got 3 extra mins than him and still lost.

Cool
