I have been stuck between 950-1000 Elo for 4 months. How do I get to a higher Elo?

Are you having the same problem as I am? Only gaining the smallest amount of elo per win?

like 8 elo? yeah

You get higher rating swings when your a new player

Yeah, it's really hard to push when your only getting 6-8 elo per game. In other words, to win better, I have been following the rules of waitjng for your opponent to hang something. Works most of the time.

I'm not sure how players are in around the elo 1000 though

  • puzzles - work on calculation. dont guess moves but play entire puzzle in your head, and double and tripple check different variations before beginning to play moves.
  • watch rapid games with commentary like the 15+10 champions chess tour

play 15+10 yourself, or 30+0 games, to allow yourself to think slowly

and analyze later

  • also I like the "Lessons" on chess.com, especially about Endgames...
  • I see you also have the Premium Membership so you can save your Game Analysis and try building a modest file of openings and middle game plans to try to memorize. Aim for a versatile opening toolkit, not something too set or heavily theoretical, but more as building yourself a few plans to counter common openings and strategies you meet regularly.

--this stuff should get you to 1500 quite comfortably with daily practice

Thank you for telling me this!

Learn exactly how to think in the opening, middlegame and endgame — this is what I teach.
Always blunder-check your moves.
Solve tactics in the right way.
Analyze your games.
Study games of strong players.
Learn how to be more psychologically resilient.
Work on your time management skills.
Get a coach if you can.

Here's my tip as a 1500 (Okay it's 1497 same thing) Puzzles, Puzzles, and more puzzles and look at Strategy of the game. And look at openings but not important. And don't waste money on a coach.

Don't waste money on a coah because they have a built in one for you

I use the King's Indian Attack all the time (With both sides). I used to play the fried liver with white, and I knew how to stop myself from getting fried.

Just keep in mind openings are alot less about what "you play" and alot more about what your opponent plays... the important part of openings is understanding opponent's strategies, maybe even personality through openings... there can also be surprises..

but I'd say 600~1200 : experiment and have fun

1200 ~ 2000 : stick to what you know, develop other aspects of your game...

2000 + add 1.d4 if you play 1.e4 (my plan)...
