My opponent  and I were playing a game.  I had a rook bishop and 4 pawns vs his king and pawn, the game was over.  He let his clock run down from 26 minutes instead of resigning so I got up and left since he was going to make me wait.  He moved with 1 second left and my clock ran down as I did not realize he moved.  My rating went from 1753 to 1742 when it should be 1759.  Is there anyway I can get my rating changed.  Also this player should be banned for making such a low ball move.

That sucks! But you should have been paying attention.

Ahhh, and another one bites the dust...

Two threads about this? Seriously dude, stop whining about it and start paying attention to your games rather than walking away and letting your clock run out.

I know that feel, that's the behavior of some bad losers players. I've lost matches for time because of them, they are pathetic.

Yeah, I think you should report this guy.

I'm sure the chess.com staff could use a good laugh.

I was disabled for no reason so this guy should stop being salty about some guy timing out, maybe he lagged for 30 mins.... My rating was 2270 before I was disabled so to complain about a change from 1752 to 1742 isn't that bad, try going from 2270 to nothing. EXACTLY

Wait--you went from 2270 to zero? How? What happened?

I think he's full of shit.

Different accounts - his previous one had reached a 2270 rating and his new one doesn't have a rating.

JIbril, your previous account was closed for cheating - you are not getting it back. Do not engage in the same behaviour with your new one.

Ouch!

Cheaters shouldn't be allowed to just make new accounts IMO.

There's not really a practical way to stop them though. Even IP bans can be worked around.

I disagree.

Cheater accusations seem to be the only thing keeping some people going on this site. Laughing

How was I cheating?! I don't use programs, also how do you even determine if someone was cheating? I need to know these things because this is unreasonable...All I want is to have a conversaion with whoever the real moderators are and get a clear understanding of the accusations, its rather childish to just say you were banned for cheating without any reason, just like kids in a park arguing about who's better, I want solid explinations, please e-mail me.

From https://support.chess.com/customer/portal/articles/1444879-cheaters-cheating-what-you-need-to-know

Can someone appeal if their account is closed?

  • We are happy to listen, but generally speaking, appeals are unsuccessful
  • The usual pattern is that the member denies cheating and demands proof, and then we maintain that they were indeed cheating and we're not at liberty to disclose how we proved it: Pretty futile.

EDIT: I wrote a lengthy reply to this at the same time David, above, was posting and I didn't see David's earlier post. I'm with David here (not just sucking up to staff).

Look at their hands. If they're red, then they are cheating. Laughing

Now that made me laugh. Thank you for this.
