😊 they probably are 😊

Oh, I'll bet that followers would be people following a post you initiated in one of the forums.  It might become more complicated if you started a blog here.  I just checked follow on this post, so you know at least one of your followers.

Eseles

@marknatm How much do you bet?

marknatm

@Eseles My old quartz analog USCF chess clock

Eseles

@marknatm You just lost your old quartz analog USCF chess clock. Give it to a charity or something. By following other members, you get notifications when they make a new thread or blog. This is being a follower.

Following a thread or blog is something else, this way you get notifications in case any new comments are made there.

So, before I donate my old clock I was just wondering.  If I wanted to follow a member.......where would I go to acknowledge that I wanted to follow them.  I don't seem to see anything on their profile page saying click here to follow.

On the member's profile, you want that icon next to the block.

Eseles

You can also find that icon and click to follow someone by hovering your mouse/pointing device over their username on a thread/blog/somewhere where they've made a comment (You don't have to go to their profile)

Also, by becoming friends with another member, you automatically follow him (you both follow one another) but you can choose to un-follow him/her from Settings -> Following (or by un-friending him/her)

(I'm talking about v3, not sure about v2)

Hehe 36 followers 22 friends 0_0 some of these people are not my friends...

marknatm

@Eseles  Yeah, I'm not seeing a block or follow icon on anything.  I must be in V2.

If there's an option to "Try the new site" way down on the bottom of the screen, you're on v2, and by clicking it you go to v3 (or you can use chess.com/switch IIRC)

marknatm

Looky there.  Now I can follow people.  Thanks Eseles.  I prefer V2.  V3 isn't very pad friendly when I try to navigate through the games I'm playing.

You can do the same thing in v2 (until it is gone):

That is on a member's profile. You want Track.

somehow the question came from how to see who's following me to how to follow them

Heather_Stephens

I think it's true that Followers don't know when you log into the site?

But they do get notified if you post something in a forum or a blog?

Or use too many question marks?

i think the followers get notified about you logging on and off when they're in live chess

Depends on where you follow someone. If it is done in the profile, I'm pretty sure the person following just gets notification of new blogs, new articles (if the person followed can post those) and new topics in the forums (but not general topic replies).

If you follow someone within Live, you will auto-watch any games they start.

I don't think you get logon notification for followed members, just for friends, but I could be wrong there.

"If you follow someone within Live" - I understand about the profile, don't quite understand that.

You have the option to follow players in Live. Some people use it to watch the games of top players (though it can be done with anyone) and when they are followed, any new games started by that player will load up for you to watch automatically.

IcyAvaleigh
just turn around to see who is following you
