"I get too excited after beating higher-rated players โ is that normal or should I control it?"

Hey, I actually wrote this myself.
I just used AI to help me make my writing look a bit more organized and professional , but the thoughts, feelings, and experiences are all mine.
Iโm just trying to express what I really feel about my chess journey, thatโs all ๐
so i don't think so use ai be a criticise topics.
Hey everyone ๐
Recently, I’ve been playing a lot of chess — mainly rapid, blitz, bullet, and sometimes even Chess960. I’ve noticed something interesting about myself: whenever I beat a player who has a much higher rating than me (like 700 elo, 1800, or just greater than me), I get super excited, like really happy.
It makes me feel like, “Wow, I’m actually smart enough to calculate better than someone stronger than me.” I feel like my hard work and quick thinking are paying off. But sometimes that excitement makes me too confident, and in the next few games I start making silly blunders because I’m still thinking about that big win.
When I started chess, I didn’t really feel anything special after winning or losing. I just played for fun. But now, whenever I finish a game, I always open the player’s profile — I check their best rating, how strong they are, how their stats look. Even if I lose, I check it. And when I lose to someone lower-rated, it hurts a lot. I get frustrated, and I start thinking too much, like why did I lose? what went wrong?
Lately, I’ve also started enjoying Chess960 a lot. There’s no theory, no memorized lines, no book moves — just pure calculation and thinking. You have to think and think and think, and trust your intuition. I love that in the first 10 or 15 moves, the game already starts showing who’s in control — you just feel it. That’s what makes me love chess more every day.
Sometimes I get overconfident after a big win or feel really down after a bad loss. I don’t know if this excitement is good or bad. Maybe it’s normal for players like me who are still learning and improving. I’m self-learning — no coach, just trying to reach 1500–1600 on my own.
So yeah, I just wanted to share this. Do you guys also feel the same? Do you check profiles after every match like I do? Do you get too happy after beating stronger players? Or do you stay calm like experienced players usually do? And for those who play Chess960 — how do you build intuition in that?
