I would like an amendment to the rules in live chess regarding profanity

Greetings ladies and gents,

I'd like to implore the powers that be for a room with less restrictions on "colorful" (or colourful) language. Aren't sports, drinking, and profanity, of a kind? Why then can I partake of the former two, and not the third? I implore you: please provide us a room in which to express ourselves accurately, or AT LEAST censor the offensive words automatically, without kick-banning an innocent cat for a couple consecutive mistakes. I'm a genuinely friendly person, and I really don't mind seeing stars over my words, but please consider that, rather than being rude and callous. I love you chess.com. I love you with all my heart...Please don't spurn me.

 Yours forever,

Sean

we will have an OPEN DISCUSSION room sometime soon where we won't censor. but we will keep the main hall family-friendly.

It's just that people tastelessly shout out curse words repeatedly and abusively and that is unacceptable to the majority of the community. I think users of constant profanity should be banned, but that's just my opinion. And I the stars idea is good, but ineffective because there are always work-arounds...

Those work-arounds are the same that would be used to get around any censorship filter though, eh? I've seen plenty of those work-arounds in the room as standard practice.

And regarding Erik's comments: Thank you for the timely response, that's very good to hear. I've just seen the filters work better in practice than outright (albeit temporary) banning. They seem to be just as family-friendly, and tend to work better generally, all around. That would certainly help me keep my score up ;). I'm just kidding, but I really do appreciate you responding so quickly and reasonably.

 Thanks again,

Sean

P.S. Here's a new thought: how about you just block the entire line with a warning, and not ban people? that way no one loses their games, and no one sees naughty words.

First we warn, then we kick, then we ban. I can rethink how we do it, but I think having the open-discussion room will help out.
