I ask this because one guy has been gone for over two years, and people are still talking about his zero rating.
If I lose all my games

I saw your smoke signals from across the virtual forest, woodshover. You have done enough unforgettable things, woodshover, that your rating could be -1000 and it would be of no account. With forum topics like: "Why is my shirt blue?", and "Do chessplayers eat?", there is little doubt, you needn't add on to your legend.

What's the big deal about 1000 anyway?

Sounds like Lenny Bongcloud. I remember back in the day I even had the honor of playing against the man himself in a 'bongcloud invitational' tournament.
But on topic, I think it'll take more than just losing some tournaments to get a 0 rating. It'll take like, months and months of concentrated effort.
Oh man! How did I forget... I was his 'best win' at one point. When I was around 1400 (? forget) or so I challenged him to a game and resigned after playing about 5 moves. He was not happy.
If I lose all the tournament games I'm playing right now, and perhaps end up with a zero rating, will ever hear the end of it?
