Imagine what this place will be like the day V2 is discontinued...

I'm talking about the day that people are no longer able to use V2. Would anyone like to make some predictions? Will there be riots? How many people will close their accounts? How many people will get their accounts closed or muted? Will the Dow Jones crash? What color shirt will Erik wear on that day? Will the next Taylor Swift album be good?

Joseph_Truelson

One thing that will happen is that I won't be able to post pictures in my blogs, which will be annoying. This will cause people to be more unhappy since thousands of people enjoy my blogs.

The world will be a worse place.

I feel you. I don't like how V3 is taking away a lot of the things that were available on V2. My biggest issue, as I noted in another thread, is that V3 doesn;t allow you to see the number of views that your threads have.

Joseph_Truelson

They don't? Terrible! Don't they realize that the purpose of threads is to get people's attention? You should have the right to know how much attention!

Martin_Stahl

Why wouldn't you able to post pictures in your blog? I had some old ones that were broken and I added them back in v3 without issue.

Joseph_Truelson

Really? I wait 10 minutes, and it doesn't go in, so I give up on trying

Martin_Stahl

It works just like the forums. Make sure the file size isn't too big.

Drama Queens will be drama queens on V3, just like on V2.

Chess lives matter...

ArgoNavis

The days after V2's death, V2's supporters will spread rumors about how competitor's websites influenced the development of V3.

Also, I prophetize that there will be public protests. A lot. People will shout: "Not my version". But they will not last long. Believe me. They won't.

The Earth will fall into the Sun...
Is it safe to say the Russians had a hand in this?

Taylor Swift will go back to country.

Lord, I hope not. Country has been polluted enough...

I think membership will drop by 5 or 10 maybe.

As a former, fairly devout critic, of the.. at-some-Near-future, point-in-time, software upgrade - I was compelled.. {'shanghied'?}.. to start using 'V-3' several weeks ago.. {because, 'V-2' wasn't programmed, to acknowledge, the 'Gold' membership 'perk'.. of 'unlimited' {'live'} tournaments} - And, my switch-over, was thankfully, anti-climatic !  [ :

Perhaps. I agree that there will most likely not be a significant drop in membership. However, among those who stay many will not be happy, and some will probably be pretty vocal about their grievances.

What would give you that idea?

It matters not a whit. They may be as vocal as they like. From the looks of all the complaint forums in re v2 v v3 it is always the same 5 or 10 people   .

That's it.

I think most people won't really care much. I didn't care for a few things about the v2 experience, and I don't care for a few things about the v3 experience, but both are fine. And the android app provides a very satisfying experience.

I came here to play chess with a friend who had moved away, and it remains a good way to play a game of chess.
