I’ve actually never thought about what people would feel if I said gg. Honestly, I’d wait until they say gg before I decide to type it, because I always had this unsure feeling, because I always feel that whenever I type something, to me, it always sounds sarcastic even when I don’t want it to.

I’d only say gg to my friends first, because I know they know I wouldn’t mean something mean, you know what I mean?

I guess some people think you are being sarcastic

Some people enjoy twisting things others say so that they can take offense and upset them.  People like that are a lost cause so don't worry about it.

Some people seek out anything that can be perceived as a "micro-aggression".  People like that are a lost cause so don't worry about it.

Some people use sarcasm so often that they see it in others regardless of whether or not it is really there.  People like that are a lost cause so don't worry about it.

When I play Minecraft Java for example, and won a game of Bedwars, I would type “gg, lol, every fight I was in was close, you’re actually very good! happy.png” because I would be afraid if it might have sounded sarcastic. If it was a close fight or if my friend did the funniest thing ever and I won, I’d type: “lol, very close, very close, it’s okay, it happens to me lol happy.png”

But I’d usually know they wouldn’t take it in a mean way. Usually, I’d be in a call with them, and I’ve never sounded sarcastic, actually, they’d start laughing, too.

I guess you guys are right. After all, you can’t judge whether someone is being sarcastic or serious in a chat of any sort. It’s a chat, it’s not a face-to-face conversation where you can spot a smile or a grin.

Those people who judge, this is a message from me to you:

You do not have the right to judge someone who you think may be sarcastic. Instead of taking everything in a negative way, think on the positive side.

Trust me, if you take things in a positive way, you won’t be hurt in any way. Even if the person was being sarcastic, who cares, you would’ve already taken it in a positive way. Therefore, you wouldn’t feel hurt.

It is bad because if I'm going golfing when wining, I might get a DUI.

Recieving gg when you are completely annihiliated is kind of insulting. How can it be a good game when If I played really bad.

All very true. Also you should just give people the benefit of the doubt when they say gg.

I think it's pretty bad sportsmanship to say gg mid-game when you're winning but fine otherwise

I think it is a way of congratulating an opponent for hanging in there until the end?

I feel guilty and rude not saying gg back if my opponent says gg. I usually don’t have time to say gg. I don’t know how my opponents find the time to say gg.
So far none of my ultrabullet opponents said gg. So no more feeling guilty and rude.

That’s why my flair is GG to make up for not saying gg in games.

Very reasonable

Back to what I was saying earlier, I think if you add something encouraging at the end, like, gg you're really good, you can't go wrong.

Whether I lose or not I always say GG. I'm on a basketball team and the losing and winning team always says GG because we have respect for each other it's basically a handshake but in words.

This is exactly how I look at it too.  It's like a handshake -- "we were competing hard in a game but it's over, now we're just two humans showing mutual respect and appreciation."  My habit is always to say good game, win or lose and it never occurred to me until very recently that saying good game after I won might be taken as sarcasm.  (The reply was "idiot").  I'm still pretty much a beginner or novice, so if there's a consensus in the online community that saying "good game" after a win is bad manners, then I'd like to know.  Not seeing any such consensus in this forum though, and right now I plan to keep saying it.  It's rare that anyone says anything to me after a game though.

Thats how i take it too
