Kicked from the Beta Club

You have been removed from the Chess.com Beta club because you were not actively participating in the Beta program. To join the Beta program, please enable the setting. You will automatically be added back to the beta club.

And there is apparently no way back in since the link doesn't work.  Tough club....

It would be one thing if I weren't an active member here, but I spend a lot of time trying to help fellow members out with site navigation and answering questions wherever I can.  I guess that's not good enough though.  There didn't seem to be anything I could add to any of the Beta threads that would have been valuable so I didn't and now I've been booted.  Don't remember being told when I joined that membership was contingent on being an active contributor to their forum, but that is apparently the case.

Just out of curiosity, anyone else get kicked from the Beta Club or am I the only pariah? cry.pngwink.png

romannosejob

It's annoying because I can't use the beta functions at my work computers, so the analysis board and post game analysis reports don't work (older software and more restrictions), but I would prefer to use them at home and I can't switch between them without a palaver.

couldn't we just turn beta on and off as we please?

baddogno

Well for what it's worth, the Beta option is back in my settings and so I turned it back on.

@romannosejob: I agree.  Probably when they have the replacement for the current version more complete and polished, we'll be able to do just that.

@RJC, thanks for your unique support as always.

Now I just have to decide whether to go knocking on the clubhouse door again...

baddogno

So let's see if the forums are fixed.  I'm back in the club, and without having to do any door knocking.  I'd better get over there and prove myself an "active" member by posting in a thread or two...sigh.

baddogno

Probably my fault Ron.  It's apparently OK to go back and forth, but I signed off when I was on the regular site and that probably triggered an auto response.  Or we could just blame the developer who screwed up forum posting earlier...

autobunny

With so many on the fora wanting to be alphas,  this thread is refreshing.

Alex

Hey there, I'm sorry for the confusion here. Its pretty normal to get removed from the beta club.

We only have 5k spots for account to join beta so in order to make sure they are all being used, we automatically remove members from beta or the beta club for the following:

- Removing yourself from beta in settings.

- Not logging in for 7 days.

If you meet either of those conditions, our system automatically removes you from the beta club to free up another spot.

These help make sure that as we push code to beta that we have as many eyes out of those 5000 users as possible looking at it!

I hope this helps explain!

Thanks Alex.  Figured it was an autoboot of some sorts.  I had gone back to the regular site to try and find something for another member and forgot to log back into the Beta site before signing off.  That probably did it.

It's the dumbasses own fault .. .
