No, the clock is always on the black's right-hand side. This means that white has it on his left hand - making it awkward for right-handed players. So what are you complaining about?

At least in USCF events, Black always gets choice of equipment (i.e. clock, pieces, board) and clock position (left/right) in OTB games.

I am also left handed and I use my left hand exclusively for doing things one-handed. But even then, whatever my left hand learns to do, my right hand also learns without doing the hard work. Its just that it feels awkward doing things like handling the toothbrush with my right hand.

Yep FIDE rules allow black the choice of which side the clock should be placed.  We had a lefty at our club who had looked it up. EDIT, it isn't actually FIDE, it was local rules.  FIDE merely says the arbiter decides.  Sorry

You'll find that most Left handed people are more adept at using their right hand for tasks than right handed people are at using their left hand.  Society has forced us lefties to adapt with things such as spiral bound notebooks, wrist watches with the wind up stem on the right side, etc.  I do remember going out to eat one time and telling my future wife that she couldn't eat with a particular fork because it was a left handed fork.  She looked at me puzzled as she put it down and picked up another.

I love being left handed in the USCF because it's simply the best for tournaments.  When I am Black, I get to choose which side it's on, which is my left.  And when I am White, my opponent usually is a righty, so I get my choice anyways.

Kuraudo

I move with my right hand so my left hand is freed for writing.

i m left handed, but i move the chess pieces with my right hand, so i put the clock on my right usually, but i don t really mind reaching over to hit it when it s on my left.

i also do absolutely everything with my right hand, including throwing stuff, or writing on a chalkboard, it is only writing with a pencil that i use my left hand.  is anyone else here like this?

Throw eating into the mix of left handed activities.  I write and eat left handed... unless I'm having a sandwich then I two-and that sucker.  I throw, shoot a gun, shoot basketball, bowl all with my right hand.  I think this is attributed to having right handed parents to teach me things where eating is more instinctual so i use my left hand.

Maybe there should be an online chess group for Lefthanders Only. (?)

sebas4life

I think you have not really searched your inner self.  Your left hand

is feminin dominant, your right is masculine.  If you were to wear

make up, which hand would you use to apply it?

KillaBeez

Just cuz ur right handed and don't feel special doesn't mean you can call us women.

we all have both sides, special or not

Nelso_125

I'm left handed, and would like to join a left-handed group! Please message me when there is one!

Cheers! Smile

MsCloyescapade

So I can start an ambidextrous group too!

So have we all.  So have we all.

Even though it sounds wrong.

My dad was a lefty.  I was born a lefty, but my mom poked me when I used it, so I use my right now.  But I shoot left handed because my left eye is still dominant.

Do I qualify for this group?

 Fellow lefty checking in.

How do you know if you're eating a sandwich lefthanded?  Do you count the hand that's holding the sandwich higher up, like with a golf grip?

Baseball / Basketball was one of those things that when we first learned it in P.E. I thought it would just complicate things to reverse all of the instructions, so I went with the right handed demo and then just stuck with it.

No gun, but archery was right-handed.

Aren't we supposed to be the artistic side of the brain, though, and the right handed people are the math side?  That might spell doom for this group in competition.   Or are we the creative move finders that will take the world by storm?   Interesting to find out.  It makes more sense than lots of the groups.

flyingplant

I'd join a group of fellow lefties!

KillaBeez

I also shoot lefty.  I could not hit the broad side of a barn with my right hand because I am left eye dominant
