list of cheaters?

I would like to determine who I have played that has been banned for cheating.  That used to be possible but is that info no longer public?

baddogno

We haven't had the list now for a while, maybe 2 years?  If you  see a little figure next to someone's name in your game archive, that means the account has been closed though.

BOYonFICS

But an account closed doesn't neccesarily mean that the person cheated.

It would be better if chess.com specified on his page whether the account closed was due to cheating or if the person himself closed his account.

Apparently the way to tell is to check if their forum posts have been removed.  Not ideal since it can be hit or miss (you have to know where to look), but I guess the powers that be want an air of mystery.  That lawsuit a few years back changed everything.

Lawsuit!?

I'll bet Chess.com doesn't want to spend time and money on lawsuits. It's really sad that people have to cheat.

I am playing a tournament organized by 7amza. I was pleased second in group 6 .

But players on number  3 and 4 position were promoted to next round and my self and the  player on 1st position were remove from  the  tournament with  out any reason.

Pleased see into the matter and help me.

A link to the tournament would help.

More recent account closures give an indication as to what sort of closure it was.

An X in a grey circle indicates that the person closed their own account.

An X in a red circle indicates that the account was closed for abuse.

A red circle with a slash through it indicates that the account was closed for a Fair Play violation or was closed before these reasons were reflected in the icons, and its best to double check.

I was informed by chess.com that it had detected that one of my opponents had violated the fair play standard and compensated me by accordingly elevating my rating. While I am impressed by chess.com's actions I was not informed on the nature of the transgression so that I might watch for it in future games nor who it was that had violated the fair play standard so that I could avoid this player. Personally I am against publicly posting the alleged transgressors as I have noted some bloggers have suggested in the event that these person might change his/her ways but I think that the individual victims should be informed for reasons aforementioned. I love this game and enjoy this app! Thank you Chess.com! 😎👍

But then how come accounts like @bunicula (Which were closed by the owner of the account) now appear as closed for abuse?

To discuss the matter of cheating further, or to learn more about cheat detection, please join the Cheating Forum: https://www.chess.com/club/cheating-forum

Chess.com takes cheating very seriously: see

Cheaters are banned when they are detected. There are various tools that are used to keep them from returning without permission; these tools are familiar to anyone who has run an online forum.

However, discussions of cheating in the main forum is not permitted, as it tends to become very heated and result in lots of public accusations, many of which are completely unfounded; you might be surprised how many cheating reports we get about low-rated players after a game that was a complete blunderfest. If all these reports were aired in public, it would just cause an ugly flame war. Therefore, I am locking this post.

To report a suspected cheater to the Support team, please select Report Abuse under the Help menu, or use this link: https://support.chess.com/customer/portal/emails/new. All reports are investigated, even if there is no immediate visible action.

Thanks,
