Logic problem - 2 strings

You have 2 matches (strings that burn, used for explosives) of 50cm each 1. Calculate exactly 45 min using these 2 matches and a cigarrete lighter knowing that each match burns in 60 min. *Note: the matches have irregular width, so you are not able to know how many cm will be burnt in X minutes.
