I can't agree with you. I think Kasparov in his prime could beat Magnus.
magnus vs garry kasprov
No?! Carlsen achieved that rating for about 5min? Kasparov was 15yr champion and no1 for near 20yr... and won amazing string of super tourneys, if one go by rating just, then say Giri or Radjabov are greater than Fischer?! At this point... Kasparov is still ahead...
OP isn't talking about Carlsen vs Kasparov, they're suggesting Carlsen vs Kasprov
Kasprov is the unholy fusion of Garry Kasparov and Anatoly Karpov. With their powers combined, they are a force to be reckoned with.
There's a 54.3% chance Magnus would beat Garry at their peaks. Or that he would score 54.3% vs Garry at their peaks. That's what the rating system tells us and Garry didn't play so long ago that the math is irrelevant. It allows for logical, unbiased comparison.
The math is irrelevant because rating is a comparison of strength vs the opponents you play and they played completely different opponents.
I think it's always a good discussion when comparing champions from separate periods. It's like saying who is the greatest QB of all time, Joe Montana. Others will have their opinions but it's a good discussion. I think it's Carlsen but it would also depend on the time constraints.
