But that will be in the D List.  So many great songs, but I will probably pick "Telegraph Road", just because of that nasty guitar solo at the end.

Vance917

You have exquisite taste my friend!  I happen to like Motley Crue's version better, but the original still kicks *&! too!  By the way, good thing you did not look at the videos.  I have been informed that the first few are all links to the Beatles.  So I will need to fix that one of these years.

paula53

Wow! That's a great list Vance ...hard to pick.... Tongue out

But here I'm  to vote and I will !!!!Wink

  1. Head first of the Baby's
  2. I feel like making love of the Bad Company
  3. Paranoid of the Black Sabbath

Cheers....Cool

Have heard of more of these guys - not many of them mind.

Bon Jovi all the way as my fav seen them live 3 times now - love them.  You really can't go wrong with a bit of Blondie or David Bowie and  Blink 182 are always good for a bit of light entertainment.

 Really not a fan of B52's though don't think I've heard one of their songs I like.

Can't wait for the C list.

Sharukin

Arthur Browne just because anyone who is willing to set their head on fire gets my vote!

Vance917

Oh, and for the record, one voter relayed to me privately that her choice is Bad Company.  I keep wondering if I should have included Big Audio Dynamite too, but while I love "Rush", my favorite of their songs is "Green Grass".  Sadly, I have been unable to find this one on You Tube.  Oh well.  I suppose life is a bitter sweet symphony, as a certain V group says!

mlmlly

You should have put Blue October's Into the Ocean. Awesome song!!

Vance917

I think I prefer the following songs about large bodies of water:

"Walk on the Ocean" by Toad the Wet Sprocket;

"Home by the Sea" by Genesis;

"The Sea of Love" by the Honey Drippers;

"The River of Dreams" by Billy Joel;

"Take Me to the River" by the Talking Heads;

"Pain Lies of the River Side" by Live;

"Old Man River" by Paul Robeson.

K-K-Kate

You forgot "Beyond the Sea" by Bobby Darin - it's a classic.  It fits in the B list as well.  Not so sure it's music to play chess by but it is great for cooking with. {#emotions_dlg.smile}

Vance917

Yeah, and in "Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses" (U2), Bono asks "who's gonna drown in your blue sea", correct"  In "Some Day" (Sugar Ray), Mark McGrath says "we'll take a swim in the deep blue sea".  Then you have "Water's Edge" by Seven Mary Three, but I prefer the original version of this story, which would be "Uncle Tom's Cabin" (Warrant).  Oh, and Metallica was "Trapped Under Ice" too!  If we allow the solid form of H2O, then "Ice, Ice Baby" anyone?  Ice Cube?  Ice Tea?

mlmlly

Have you guys even heard of Blue October? They're pretty good... they're most popular song is "Hate Me" but there best song is "Into the Ocean!!"

Vance917

I never did until you mentioned them.  With all due respect, I was not too crazy about that one song you mentioned.  Maybe we just have different tastes.

mlmlly

Yeah.

krazykristina

eeeeeeeeeek where are the Beatles !!!!!!!!

Vance917

The Beatles have so many good songs, but I could not think of one truly great song that also rocks.

kristinamaria

Okay, after careful consideration... (these are all great songs, btw)

1. Green Onions (such a classic!)

2. Black Box (reminds me of going to Canucks games, which I always love!)

3. Paranoid (great track..never get sick of this one)

Vance917

I can't believe you know "Green Onions" -- that one is even way before my time, let alone yours!  But your taste is exquisite!

Vance917

Hey, I need to amend this B List.  Last night a friend told me about Hypem, which I assume the rest of you all know about, but my technological obsolescence has rendered me unaware of it until just last night.  And today I found "Say You Will" (Blanket of Secrecy), a song I have never found on You Tube.  It does not rock the way "Paranoid" does, but still it has to be my favorite B song.  It has that certain je ne se qua (did I spell that right)?  I don't expect it to win the B Group and advance out of its bracket, but still, it gets my vote, for reasons that I cannot entirely explain.  Anyway, I would also venture to guess that not too many of you know it, but you might want to check it out:

kronick

You've got some good choices - can't go wrong with BTO, Booker T & The MG's, or the B-52's (Athens, Georgia baby!)

...But how can a list of mucial acts starting with the letter "B" not include Blue Oyster Cult?  Or Boston?  The Beatles?  What about The ByrdsChuck Berry anyone?  And what about the Canadian rock group that simply went by the name, "The Band"?
