and you CAN chat... with your friends. you can't chat with strangers. the site is designed for safety as the #1 priority.

As a parent I think this is a fantastic feature.
Why is the rook so grumpy?

Yeah I liked King Dalí
Oh my goodness... This is... Amazing! Now there's a safe website I can have my beginner students play on! Many thanks to whomever created the new site!
Erik, his name is Erik
Not forgetting IM Pruess and Jay who are both members of staff and are working hard even now to develop this site :)
Well, I wanted to encompass all who made the website, while not taking a chance on getting any names wrong. I figured there was a chance one or more of the staff could have not been directly involved, therefore, "Whomever".
LameFriend was a suggested name when i went to check out how you signed up.
Can you think of something less lame?
I have a few young nieces and a nephew across the nation that I'm interested in possibly introducing to this site. And my sister(s) can manage them and their accounts so I can forward the site link to them.
I feel much better playing them and teaching them through that site than this one. Can I set up an account to play not-my-own-children, but relatives? My son is too young and is developmentally delayed - I would not feel comfortable signing him up just so I can use his account to play his cousins by proxy.
What are my options?

that's fine!
I've really been getting my 8 year-old sister into chess over the years and teaching her things but my parents have absolutely no chess knowledge, putting them out of the question. Would you guys make a fuss if I made myself a parent account, then made a kid account for her under me? I'm 18 and all and know how to act in a kid-friendly setting, but I since I'm not her parent, should I still do this? Or maybe I should make a "Coach" profile for myself over her?
Erik, this is a great thing you are doing. I have always recommended this sight before to the children I tutor and their parents, but always had to tell the parents to beware of the few idiots who disregard the fact that this should be a family sight. I hope you will have moderators constantly on this site to really keep it kid friendly. Thank you thank you thank you!
This is a wonderful idea!
