that's amazing, it was a real pain to hop to explorer and click around to get to the relevant games. A really slick solution!
ok. PGN and FEN will come back. seems the medicine was worse than the disease... :)
T'is a sad day for non users, looks like the abusers are winning again!
Yep, I can stop hand-rolling my own FEN and my fave chess site went from having zero Explorer integration to best-in-class. It's a parade on Abuser Street. Confetti rains from on high! JOY! :)
No seriously, I'm pretty happy about all this.
thegab03, given that a person CAN create their own FEN in no time, etc., etc., etc., everything's on the honour system anyway when push comes to bludgeon. I'm sure there are lots of self-avowed non-users to play with. Heck, I've even played no-references-allowed e-chess here myself, when a friend and I couldn't get together in the same place for our weekly OTB game.
Why decry the initiatives that continue to make this the best site on earth for online correspondence chess just because that kind of chess makes a few allowances you'd rather not use, personally? To put it another way, why should chess.com not have features that lesser sites have had for ages? Nobody's stopping you from playing chess your way - or from finding lots (and lots!) of like-minded opponents.
Cheers!
I was disappointed when the PGN and FEN links disappeared, but understood why and had gotton used to having to hand-create games for database searches and offline analysis.
Then they're back, and there is an explorer link too!
Thanks! This makes the best and most enjoyable chess site even better.

Any chance for a more expressive smiley palette?
To Erik and all the other staff,
I have never been one to 'live' on a site the way I do on chess.com. The closest I came to that was facebook, but it became too much of social boredom. On the other hand, you've provided a place I can play the game I love, and also interact socially, if I wish. I have to heartily congratulate you all on the hard work you've put into this site. I don't think you get enough kudos for the site, because most users don't know what goes into creating something like it. As a web developer myself, I know the sleepless nights you must have been through and the endless research it took to give us some of the features we've been clamouring for. I also know of the satisfaction you get when you hear people actually using the features you've worked so hard to implement. Here are just a few of the newer ones I like:
These and the other great features I may not have included make this site irresitable to any chess fan. You guys deserve my Premium Membership money, my thanks and my respect. Keep up the great work.

Smaller pieces in the details pane so it doesn't have to scroll. A nice subtle touch. Live updates to the move list and captured pieces during analysis, etc. This is the one feature I had requested, but others had too, so I'm particularly chuffed at its inclusion. Board display settings. Very nice. Someone asked to be able to vary the viewing angle for the 3d pieces. I personally don't like the current angle, but if my theory about how you've implemented the applet is correct, I know it would take a lot to grant him his wish. What you have currently is great for a start. More recently, like, tonight, I see that the movement buttons have been promoted out of the Details tab into the tab body itself, making them available on all tabs. Brilliant move! Looking back, I realise that indeed switching between tabs to (re)play moves and look at notes or something had been bothering me, but it didn't occur to me to say anything. Thank God obviously someone did! These and the other great features I may not have included make this site irresitable to any chess fan. DeepGreene Don't be taking me serious, just teasing bro, it does not bother me in the least, cheers & regards,

I don't know if anyone noticed this but now the May release of Chess.com works as it is supposed to on Opera, which is fantastic - thank you guys.
Well, it worked perfectly until today's (or yesterday's) release - now the 'moves' tab has a glitch (the moves list is not displayed where it is supposed to). Still, this is a minor detail which I am sure you will adress.
Thank you very much Chess.com, now I can finally relax and use the best browser ever. By the way - when will Live chess be out of beta? Good luck and thanks again.
Great job and now an even more wonderful site. Love those chess videos and learning a lot and enjoying chess all the more. Just want to ask again: Would it be possible to improve the visual size and contrast of the horizontal Letters and the vertical numbers on the board. I believe that we senior members of our chess community would greatly appreciate any help you can give us. Our eyes often just don't work as well as they used to, even with glasses.
I wonder if it would be possible to change the style of the pieces on the board for the game viewers that are not logged in from 'book' to 'classic'. I sometimes send the adress of games I want to brag about to friends (who may or not have an account on chess.com) and the default 'book' style for the pieces is just plain ugly.

REALLY?!!! OH MY
It took me 24 hrs to get used to the 3D but i like it. i use the 3D plastic and the black and white board. it's a nice contrast.
