NEW: Lessons get a Fresh Look

Hey, everyone!

Today we're fully releasing a brand new and improved Lessons product for everyone to enjoy, and hope you'll try it out and let us know what you think! What's new?...

Although we're always adding new Lessons content, the big news today is about the way we present Courses and Lessons to you. The old Lesson product did a not-so-great job of highlighting all the great Courses and topics that are available to take! The new version of Lessons puts these learning resources in their best light.

In addition to changing the interface, we've also improved Lesson descriptions and meta-data to make courses clearer and easier to find.

In general, Courses may be viewed on either of two tabs: Guide and All Lessons. The "Guide" tab always provides a handy way to get to our featured curriculum for Chess learners: a comprehensive Chess course that can take a new player all the way from learning how the Knight moves to advanced topics in strategy, openings and endgames. With a tab of its own, this core learning content will always be easy to find.

And if you already have some Chess knowledge on your side, you don't have to see or complete everything in the Guide: You can manually hide sections to get them out of your view - and focus on what matters at your level!

The All Lessons tab is more inclusive (of course!), and provides advanced Lesson Search features. By default, the tab shows you the most recent Lessons added to the library. You will find Courses on all topics - for all levels of player.

With each Lesson you take, you will earn a point toward the next Learning Rank, visible in the side panel of new Lessons pages. Promoting this pawn will definitely help your game.

We made some fun changes and improvements to Lesson challenges as well - for instance, adding some personality with Coach/author avatars!

That's it! We hope you love the refreshed look. Please share your thoughts and comments - and/or use the icon at the bottom-left of the page to Report a Bug or Make a Suggestion. Thank you!

Haven't tried any lessons in a long time. Guess I'll give it a try. happy.png

Wow, great! Just a question, I am 48% done with all lessons - I would like to keep that percentage. Is that possible? Or is this new lessons update going to change that?

Has anyone had success with the new "Guide" tab? It seems totally inert to me. The beauty of the old guide was that I could clearly scroll through all available lessons, and see which ones I had done, etc.

The new "Guide" tab just lists 4 titles, and "...", none of which lead anywhere. Any insights welcome.

Thanks!

If you click on the "..." you should see an option to reveal the Courses in that section.

Thanks DeepGreene! (I hadn't realized that I had to re-click the mini-window that popped up)

But they only go as far as the Advanced level, I was a few lessons into the level beyond that (was it called Mastery?) --- the software seems to know what my "next lesson" should be, but I like re-doing lessons in my current level that I don't absorb as well --- right now, only the first 4 levels are in Guide

Thanks again for any insights!
