New Live Chat bar

This is great! It's small enough not to disturb you when you're playing chess, but not too small. Nice feature!

i think its great.if you dont want to chat dont use it.i like idea of being able to speek about the game with your opponent in this way as its quicker :0

I must say I rather like it, even though I had doubts in the earlier thread.

For some unknown reason I thought it let you chat with people on your existing chat networks only, not that it would let you chat with chess.com friends. This is much better (and obvious; don't know why I thought it would do something else).

It's also much less visible than I thought it would be.

I hate it. It is quite annoying and intrusive. Please remove this nonsense. We are here to play chess. I consider stop using this website. It is going way too far with shenanigans like this.

Also I cant find an option to remove it.

Ok I removed all my friends and got rid of this junk. It is silly I had to do that, but it was quite annoying.

That is because you cannot completely remove it unless you subscribe 

How can I remove it from sites different that my homepage? I hate this thing, I won't use it and it only takes sapce.

Bug : Meebo doesn't update the online/offline friend list. Chess.com indicates I have x friend online, whereas meebo tells I actually have y friends online, where usually y is less than x. This keeps happening all the time, even after refreshing/reloading.

Don't you mean y is less than x??

Seeing as it is still a fairly new system for chess.com I can only imagine they are working on it??

I think it is great, and there is no censure from big brother, except your own by blocking people .I hope that the next gadget on chess.com is  the automatic use of our web-cam sending automatic so every body can see that I even play chess in the toilet.

To be honest I even made a meebo account and am now able to chat with friends from "msn",google talk and facebook in the same window I am playing chess in.

In the end I think it is a nice gadget and just is making this site more fun.

Thank you for this. Opera users can add this to "Blocked Content", and annoying bar will be gone.

I have to rant again that it is a shame a chess site like this feel they need to resort to these kind of things and to compromise security and privacy of their members.  A shame really.

Additions like this do not make this site better. On the contrary. As a nonpaying member I do not mind adds, but this is pushing it too far.

Annoying and unneeded feature, Erik. At least give everyone the opportunity to turn it off without going crazy with blacklists, scripts blockers and filters.. Keep this site simple and clean as it always been.

I like this new feature.  It is nice to be able to hold a real time conversation with friends who are currently online, without having to use the profile notes.

Is there way to make it show up while I'm logged into live chess? 

I wondered the same thing, CR. In the live chess window, I get neither the bar at the bottom, nor the chat panel at the side. I like to chat while waiting for others to move, and would rather not have to switch windows back and forth to do that.
