I don't see what IQ has to do with anything, and I still can't understand why people think they're being clever if they bring it up.

Definitely not. Anyway, my views on the Russia-Ukraine thing are not orthodox. All the Western leaders at the moment are orthodox and in a situation like this, that makes them .....
Well, public forums are not the place for that. It isn't anything to do with you, Ms Puffling: but my comment was certainly inspired by the general reaction to events in your part of the World. My threads always die because I don't have the faintest idea of how to push them. I don't even want to push them.
I was talking about this idea to my wife and I certainly didn't have to sell it because she thinks nearly all chess players are on the autistic spectrum, somewhere. In my opinion anyway, when you put your mental effort into solving chess problems, it's a sublimation or substitute for solving real world problems and it displaces the desire to do so, to some extent, so chess players can seem stupid without really being stupid. And then there are the ego-problems we are all supposed to have.
Now, I don't think so. Also, a lot of chess players are spotty. I noticed that quite a bit too.
