Nothing to do with you being a newbie. There are just a lot of inconsiderate players who don't care about good sportsmanship. Happens less as you get a higher rating.

The OP is talking about Online Chess. It sometimes happens. Even I on a few occasions have timed out a game. Start some more games OP. You can play a lot of Online games at a time.

What is the reason during a game someone makes one move or in the middles of the game, they just stop and let the time run out. Never making another move in a game that is timed to expire in days.
This happens a lot and I'm pretty sure it has something to do with me being a newbie.
