"Good manners" isn't a true identity because it's fake. That's not who people really are.

And not swearing is how little kids behave, because they're following their parent's rules. So not swearing is a sign of immaturity.

Of course there are times for having good manners, and I'm not waving at my neighbor in the morning saying "f u" but not swearing at all is childish, and manners might be what defines a good 10 year old, but not an adult.

I'm 56 and don't swear.

Oh this is terrible. To imply that people display good manners out of some obligation or responsibility when they want to behave poorly is a ridiculous assertion. You must be a yankee. No offense.

You know there's a way to express oneself without swearing. For example, I read your post and one word comes to mind. Excrement!

Do you actually believe that being well mannered and having a civil tongue makes one phony? When in fact its quite the opposite. To lower your standards especially during an argument or debate actually makes an individual look very childish and rather ignorant. If you have to resort to curses and swears, then you've already lost.

I had a match yesterday where I took a commanding lead against my opponent. Instead of resigning or attempting a comeback, this individual resorted to cursing at me and using racial slurs. I just grinned and chose not to respond. Instead I reported said person and accepted my victory with class and as a gentleman.

this red banner crap is really getting out of hand. i just wrote a message to another member with zero curse words and it was zapped.

you sound like someone that remembers when most people here were adults.

(i still disagree with the "false dichotomy" statement, though wink.png)

my statement was actually a simile, and a rip-off of a keith moon quote.

the facebook reference is this: as they grew so incredibly quickly, the automation took over, and there was no interaction with anyone affiliated with the site if there were complaints. this was at least ten years ago when i noticed it. this red banner thing sure seems to be following the same plan.

Yes the red banner is obviously a computer making decisions. As I talk about in the OP. This is gross censorship and nothing else.
