I have been looking at forums that were posted a long time ago and been commenting in a few of them. I log off then. I logged back on the next day and I have 3 messages in my message box. They were all from 3 different people. They were saying why I was posting in forums topics that havent been commented on in months (They were part of the forums topics that were posted a long time ago).

I dont understand why I dont have the right ( according to them lol) to comment in dead forums that were posted along time ago. Whats the big deal. Then 2 of them started to argue with me and send me messages saying that I am old school and how I am a troll.

It didnt really bother me what they were saying but it did take the fun away from getting messages because I always wonder "I wonder who sent me a message".

I just blocked them from sending me messages. I really dont like blocking people but  I did.

Tell me what you think about it and has it ever happened to you. Just browsing around and looking  at forums that were posted a long time ago?

I never post in a thread that isn't posted in less than a few seconds ago.

Avatar of TheGrobe

Everytime I post in one "a few seconds ago" is exactly what it says, so I guess I don't either.

It must be all the other people who are resurrecting-old-threads.

I think the peeps who asked why you were posting in a long dormant forum fit into the category Dr Einstein is sure about.

Had you started a new thread, you would have been berated for not first doing a search.

Avatar of Argonaut13

Of what, I'm not understanding you.

Avatar of NimzoRoy

A search of the old forum of course that you would then be berated for posting in after such a long time of inactivity there.

A search to make sure your topic wasn't one which had been covered a bunch of times in the past.

Bumps of old threads don't bother me at all, especially if they are funny ones.

Ah, but did old Albert not make a few mistakes in his time? Ironically enough, scientists are now using his cosmological constant - the self-confessed "biggest mistake" of his career - to figure out what the hell is going on with dark energy.

Anyways, do what you want with old threads, unless it's forbidden in some way. For some reason I usually skip over revived threads, but that's just me!

or bumping a thread which has very important or worthwhile information.

Avatar of cabadenwurt

Why not post in an old thread ? If there is something of interest there then by all means post an opinion. Those kill-joys that don't like it can go fly a kite ! ( and who the heck keeps coming up with all of these STUPID rules ??? ).

are-you-sorry-because-youre-english-is-not-perfect - or because you've posted in an old topic?

Why do people call threads 'forums' on chess.com? I don't see that elsewhere.
