people abandoning games instead of resigning

This delightful human being allowed the clock to run down 4.20 in a five minute blitz.

Oh well

I hate it

I created a free chess course for beginners to help others, but I ended up learning a lot myself in the process. Here’s how:

Reinforced the Basics: Teaching piece movement and rules helped me solidify my own knowledge.
Sharpened My Tactics: Designing exercises on forks and pins made me better at spotting them in my games.
Improved My Openings: Focused on simple, solid openings — now I have a stronger start every game.
If you're new to chess, feel free to check it out! It’s free and covers all the essentials:

Hope it helps you improve like it helped me! ♟️

Bro the lag today is just to much, slow snail pace chess it kills me it really does, lichess runs like a Rolls Royce engine, ok that engine maybe inside a Lada but still you'd think you'd wanna be better than your closest competitor

The community only has itself to blame. This is what happens when you refuse rematches. And if you need to justify it: Your win means nothing if you can't repeat it.

the number of people who I've beaten, then accepted a rematch and lost, and didn't get the tiebreaker is too many to count. your comment means nothing to me

I've noticed that people who offer a rematch play noticeably better in the rematch. Just saying.

I agree... I think after one loss, you're just more careful... At least that works for me... Then if I loose 3 or 4 in a row, well okay then, the other player is better, but sometimes it's just (bad) luck, one bad move or lack of focus...

oh!, and of course, the more games you play vs one opponent, the more statistically correctly it shows which player is better... But you know that tongue.png

why do people always abandon games, why can't they just resign

I don’t know why but people almost never just abandon a game. Sometimes they disconnect, but most of the time they just resign.

Fair enough, but at least run it back to break the tie lol. Maybe they're just ELO chasing (which I never understood in low ELO)
