Chess.com allegedly has tens of millions of members. So far eight of them think chess is a sport. Just curious though, who are you eight going to petition to? The general population thinks chess is a board game, not a sport. Do you think they are interested in your petition?

I dont care what you think

It's just a question. Who is this petition targeting? Petitions always have two things. A request (usually written). And the authority that the appeal is asked of. So what authority is this petition directed towards?

Many people would side with the opinion that chess is a sport, and that is what this petition is for. For people to finally choose whether they subscribe to this opinion.

Do you not know what a petition is for? If many individual people comment here saying chess is a sport, than it will be a sign to any group that thinks otherwise, and it will perhaps cause a large enough uproar to be seen by the staff of chess.com and the chess world

This is more of a vote to raise attention to this opinion

Yes, I know what a petition is for. It's a request (usually written) presented to authority. It's asking for something, from someone who can grant that ask. The only reason I can see that a petition would be needed is if chess is not a sport. So the petition would be asking authority (such as the dictionary) to define it as a sport. Asking for a change.
Other than the dictionary, what other authority would this petition be presented to?

chess = cheese
lol
once i accidentally typed cheese.com instead of chess.com. It took me to a another website. I was like what the heck is this place? Then i realized i'd typed cheese.com instead of chess.com
lolllll

Ummm, chess.com is not concerned about any "uproar" because chess is a board game. They kinda already know that. That's the whole point. People can play a board game online. You don't play sports online. You play sports where they are designed to be played. Like a golf course, football field, baseball field, ski slope, etc.
chess is a sport
