Players wasting time (afk after clear loss etc)

Hi I just starting playing here on chess.com, but I met a guy today who lost queen, rook + much more material and clearly losing board position, just afk's forever to waste my time.  I can't even start a new game in the meanwhile

Once you start a game, you're essentially committing to playing that game for the combined time allocated for both players. It's just the nature of the beast.

It's every player's perogative to resign when they want. It's annoying, but you can get your own back in a way by sub promoting and very slowly mating your opponent.

Upgrade your account. It's very cheap and play as much as you want.

Silly question but how do you resign?  I can't find out how.

I was just wondering if this is supposed to be allowed or not, I guess it is.  Just to be clear, it's not like they are thinking about their moves, it's just good ol nonafries.

Should players try to be courteous to each other instead of pulling silly crap? Yes.

But my understanding is that online chess has a serious lot of kids, so you can only expect so much from a random opponent.
