About 6 months ago I decided I would expand my opening repertoire to include a few d4 openings. I had been playing 1. e4 almost exclusively for about a year and decided to branch out.As soon as I did, however, I’ve noticed that many of my opponents disconnect or abandon their games turn 1. I know

I usually play d4, usually they keep playing. I play the Slav defense when I am black. Apparently the Nimzo-Indian is used the most in d4 openings.
