Please cut down vacation time

Yes, it is a great site. I think it's the best chess site available on the web, I recommend it to my chess playing buddies and I appreciate the work that goes into making it a great site.

One of the things that helps make it a great site is the way the creators listen to suggestions from users for possible improvements. What has been suggested is that there is a tournament option included for those amongst us who would like the correspondence format to go a little faster (i.e. controls on vacation time). This is not postal chess, it is internet chess with correspondence rules and the internet offers the opportunity for faster play and more options.

For those of you who like things as they are, then that option should remain, but I'm suggesting there is an additional option when creating tournaments to limit the vacation time, particularly to guard against serial vacation time abusers. If you're worried that this might be a problem for you then you wouldn't have to enter the tournament. If you like it going slow that's fine, but please don't write off the intellect or motives of those who would like an additional option.

For those who are complaining about the fact that this is a suggested improvement, please note that the community forum is supposed to include suggested improvements, that's why I posted it here.

That sounds good. Coz I have no problem with people using the maximum given time in casual games etc. Vacation time is pretty important for quite a lot of us. I, for example, travel quite a lot in  a year and during those times I have to check the 'Im on vacation' buton. And exam times for students etc..

But I do agree with limiting it for tourneys.

Personally, I don't really mind a game becoming far longer than what you'd originally anticipate - unlike a computer program with the 'ponder' setting disabled, a person is capable of thinking during their opponent's move.

If you're particularly into a game that gets delayed for two weeks for vacation time, why not use that time to welcome your opponent back with a network of conditional moves?
