Possible serious problem with credit cards

We may have found a serious issue that is easy to solve:

  • Many parents like ourselves pay membership for their children.
  • chess.com remembers the credit card information.
  • The children can then click to improve the membership or give memberships to other people.
  • The credit card gets charged

This has happened also to some friends, and we recently received a free membership by a user we don't know whose profile has the picture of a kid.

We were told that cancelling the automatic renewal would make chess.com to delete the credit card information, but we did cancel the automatic renewal and it got activated again, which probably means our credit card information was never deleted.

I think chess.com should be more clear that they store this sensitive information, and that this could be a big money sink, since there is a lot of users you can give memberships for free.

Regards

I wonder what system the site has in place. Have you contacted support?

It has been deleted.

Also, the OP's thread has been edited by the mods. The OP was provocative, and the mods did the right thing by editing it.

If moderators edit something, they do it in an obvious way. If the post has been modified, the OP likely did it.

Good point. Either one did the right thing. Thanks. Don't post something that will be vulnerable to jokes that might offend.

Just don't post things that might offend that might violate the site community guidelines, joking or not.

He said 'thongs of users'. Are you human? Try to get out more often.

A typo doesn't justify posting the image posted and removed.

Or perhaps you can tell your children not to misuse the card ?  Just a thought.

This profile is shared. The parents only oversight the childrens, who do as they wish. Sorry for the mistake that contaminated the discussion. We edited ourselves when we saw the picture. They have never misused the card, but other kids might, as it may have happened with the membership that I mention, which was given to us.
