Postage Stamp Exchange

In this day of e-mail, I wonder if anybody writes letters anymore.  And with that, I wonder just how obsolete postage stamps are, and with that, how obsolete is the practice of collecting postage stamps.  But just tonight I found another member, besides myself, who collects stamps, so it seemed fair to raise the issue, and see if there might be any interest in some kind of stamp exchange.  With so many nations represented, it could be fun for those of us who do collect...

yes ! letters still exist ! and they are wonderful !  as for stamp collection, it is still valid . I know people who still do this and they are quite proud of their collection.

if it's your hobby and makes you happy, why not continue ?

my hobby is chess, so I can't help you with stamps, unless you want a Romanian stamp Tongue out

Mersi -- I'd love a Romanian stamp!  But it sounds like you would not want an American stamp in return?
emiab

yes, that would be nice. if it is a special one too, because I told you I got a friend who collects them Tongue out.  And to make it really worth it to you, you will get 2 stamps in one shot : the one inside and the one stuck on the envelope !!

let me know if this sounds good to you.

Sounds good!  I am off for a few days, but let me look for some American stamps when I get back?

My dad collected stamps, he had them all in albums, but when he developed Altzehmers he started taking them all out of the albums and putting them in paper bags, I dont know why. He died in 1995, and when Mam died in 2000, I had dads stuff, and all his stamps, I have not looked in the bags, and I think a lot of them are just ordinary, but if I go through them one day, I will put some in an online album, and you can see if you want any.

Sorry to hear about your parents.  I love stamps, but I am not sure that I feel right about taking advantage of your dad getting sick and all.
emiab
sure, no hurry here.

For those who collect stamps might I suggest the International Correspondence Chess Federation, http://www.iccf.com/.  The ICCF is just as its name implies.  It runs internationally recognized chess tournaments using web server, e-mail, and most importantly for our purposes here, mail. I've now switched to webserver exclusively (time considerations mainly) but when I played via mail I received a large variety of stamps.  Many who play are avid collectors and are eager to exchange stamps with other players.  If you enjoy chess and stamps this is the best way to meet both needs.
