Question about ratings and playing my son online...

My 9 year old lives in another state and wants to start playing chess.  We are both beginners, and though he's a smart kid he's not a savant, and I can win nearly every game just by virture of being an adult.  However, if I win every game, it won't be fun for him and he won't want to continue playing.

We both created chess.com accounts so we can play together online.  However, if I play against him using the "Invite Friends" option, and I purposely make the occasional lousy move and let him win, will that ruin my stats and Glicko rating?  I'd like to take this new hobby of mine seriously and would rather find a different way to play together if it will ruin my ability to track my progress and be matched appropriately with other players.

Thanks!

Perhaps you want to try unrated games. When selecting a time control or sending a challenge, there is an option to make a game unrated. With this option, your points will not be affected.
