"ENTERING MOVES VIA KEYBOARD" CAMPAIGN

Well, in fact the point is more writing algebraically a move, so using the arrows is a bit different; something between using the mouse and writing the move.

I think it would be an interesting addition to the site. Not sure if I could play that way though: I'm not quite on that level!

Thanks for the comment Eric. It is not much a level issue, it's more a "have fun" and "memory use" one.

yess this is a great concept.. its should be utilised...along with that chess.com should allow a new option in its site..where we can study famous chess games..save them for future study n along BG with that a option to enter chess games through the commands

I just discovered a new reason for the use of entering moves via keyboard. In one of my games, my mouse slipped and as a result my bishop has been moved to the wrong square; so i lost my bishop in move No 2! I miss a lot more my "entering moves via keyboard" option now!

The point about our forum subjet, is that always a new thing come up, justificating this petition...amazing...

Keyboard is just tooo big and difficult to reach the mouse beside the keyboard which is no good. Laptop is better along with mouse. i'm sure you can catch my drift.

I think the idea is that it would be an option, not lets make everyone move with the keyboard. Several other chess servers have allowed this since the mid-90s.
Chess.com is worried about the simplicity of connecting one of those cheating bots to the games if you can enter moves via keyboard. I'm pretty sure that's why it's not a feature here.

Yes, of course we are talking about an option, to be set in all players personal settings by himself. Concerning cheating, i don't believe your comment is accurate, some one who really wants to cheat, cannot be prevented by any mouse. There's absolutely no relation between cheaters and the use of the keyboard. Thanks for your comments by the way

Oh, I'm pretty certain I'm right about that. And yes, there's a huge relationship. Sure, you can't stop someone set on cheating, but allowing a keyboard interface would make it trivially easy.

I have been playing chess for years. Since I was 4 years old. I'm 48. This sounds like a good concept. Trying to learn Algebraic; read a few books and a few friends explained it to me, but never have used it. Should get involved in Tournaments. Force myself to learn this way.

Thanks Scoot for the very optimistic comment. We all are here to learn and enjoy more of the chess delights. It would be much more intense for a lot of us if we could make it entering our moves via keyboard, so pals...keep on writing down your comments on the issue here

Hi everybody, after checking with some international chess referee, it seems acceptable to choose a unified algebraic notation; this could be english and for a better level of standardization, we can elect the system officialy used by the U.S chess federation...after all, chess.com is a U.S. website, isn't it?
that is nice forum here, oh boy no way i can do blindfold impossible. if i am hearing person i would be able to hear other person speaking and saying what it being move position. unless interpreter sign language using my hands so i would know his or her position move the pieces on chessboard.
finger spell on hands is for deaf blind.
very impressive on forum congrats.
very useful to read other people's comment.
