Since I've been a host at Wellcome To Chess.Com I've hosted many a very interesting game and meet many beautiful people,it's a great way to meet new heads.

But my point is maybe two thirds of the games my opponnent makes one move and wham bam thank you mam,the persons disapears without leaving a trace or a goodbye and I win the game on time!

Would it be a good idea to change these games from unrated to rated so maybe the others might take the game more seriously?Regards

Gabriel!

I'm not sure it would solve anything to be honest.

Lot's of then don't play further as they want to play "live" and don't understand the correspondence chess concept.  Some greeters would not have any further games as they would come up against strong players, thus losing them points.

I think it is what it is.

Point taken, thank you very much, for I did not look at it like thatWink!

Also, one or two move games won't count toward a rating anyway on chess.com, will they?

"this game was too short to affect your rating"

I play greeter games too. I've noticed the exact same thing. For about every 4 started we finish 1. It would be too easy to got points that way. I use them to practice openings.

I think it is worse then 1 out of 4, more like 1 out of 10. I honestly got tired of it and have lowered it down to just doing 2 games at a time as a greeter. I dont think that we should be given points for this, it is like a charity/volunteer thing and if you don't want to do it because you are not compenstated then just dont do it. One last point is that I have noticed that when I log on to some of these games they have already logged off. Quite a few have literally cursed at me because I was taking too long when I wasnt even actually online. We just have to live with it and roll. We greeters are a tuff group of people. We should probably start our own group and label it 'Tuff Guyz'

Why do not play rated games all the time? I think u can practice in rated games, too.

What could happen? In the worst case u lose points. But in the next time u win them again. I think if u play hundreds of games your real rating shows up. So if u want to improve... play games, read articels and books. And very important - have fun with this old game.
