I am a recent chess re-joiner and after a couple of years I noticed that while I can hold on against bots up to around 1500, when playing live rapid 30’ games I am pretty much stuck around 1250. Not only, but my accuracy is higher against bots, and the live games are very often free for all ‘wild rides’, with stunning blunders and mistakes on both sides.
Granted, I have played very few live games, but I suspect that the culprit is the 30’ time limit, and I find very few on line players, myself included, willing to go for, say, 60’.

Other than doing that, finding longer games, is there a way to make the bot reply to a move in a more human like fashion? It looks like I can play on a timer against a bot, but its reply is always almost instantaneous. It would seem easy to add a time delay in the bot reply, related to its level, or difficulty of the position, and this might better train a beginner like me for live encounters?
