Let's face the truth: the majority of Russians support the war. This is not only Putin's war.
Their soldiers murder Ukrainians (including children) and they still support the war. Only isolating them thoroughly can give some of them an idea that murdering innocent people who had the privilege of living too close to Russia is not OK.
I think chess.com is losing credibility allowing to play Russians here even against the will of their opponents - I'm sure there are a lot people here thinking like me. Chess.com has not provided us any tool to ignore the Russian players even on individual level.
I know chess.com will call this topic "political" and they will probably lock it soon. The problem is in times like these we can't afford not to be political. We must show some solidarity with attacked nation.
Chess.com: just do something right instead of showing us this article again: https://www.chess.com/blog/CHESScom/on-the-invasion-of-ukraine
We know this text. You do nothing:
"We believe it is counterproductive to isolate innocent Russian and Belarusian citizens from the global community. Participation in the global community is important to spreading truth."
How exactly can we spread the truth? The truth is political and we cannot talk about it here. Yet, as I wrote earlier the vast majority of Russians like the idea of invading neighboring countries.
"While we are not banning or limiting accounts, payment processing is currently blocked for all major payment processors in Russia and Belarus. Members who currently have active premium memberships are not affected; however, once existing premium memberships expire, they will not be renewed."
Doesn't it mean that you (unfortunately) cannot take their money because somebody else blocked the payments?
The Russians are treated like trash in their own country so they take pride in the "greatness" of their army. I understand the state of being "nobody" is easier to survive if other nations are afraid of your army. Understanding is everything we should offer. No more friendly games with them. Chess.com: do something!
