To save a .ctg
file to the ChessBase Cloud and access it from other locations or devices, follow these steps:
Solution:
-
Convert the
.ctg
File to a Compatible FormatChessBase Cloud does not directly support.ctg
files (as they are opening books). Instead, you can:- Export the
.ctg
file as a database in.cbh
format. This format is supported in the ChessBase Cloud environment.
Steps to Export:
- Open your
.ctg
file in ChessBase 17. - Go to
Tools
>Opening Book
>Create Database from Book
. Save the database as a.cbh
file.
- Export the
-
Upload to ChessBase CloudOnce converted:
- Open ChessBase 17.
- Log in to your ChessBase account.
- Right-click in the
Cloud Databases
section on the ChessBase home screen. - Choose
New Database
orUpload Database
, and select the newly created.cbh
file.
-
Accessing from Another Location
- Log in to ChessBase Cloud (via ChessBase 17 or the ChessBase web app).
- Navigate to your
Cloud Databases
and open the uploaded.cbh
file.
-
Optional: Use
.ctg
Locally if NeededIf.ctg
specifically is required on another computer, to manually upload the file to a shared storage platform (e.g., Google Drive, OneDrive). However, you cannot integrate.ctg
files into the ChessBase Cloud system itself.
Notes:
- ChessBase Cloud supports
.cbh
databases, but.ctg
files are standalone opening books intended for local use. - If you wish to synchronize
.ctg
files across multiple devices, external cloud services are required.
Hi,
I am using Chessbase 17.
I've built a database of Tal's games from the Chessbase database and built a .ctg file from it and works fine as an opening book within Chessbase 17 on my computer.
However, I want to be able to save it to Cloud and access the same .ctg file from another location - not just from my local computer. (Web Apps for instance,) I have tried for quite a while now, but without success.
Does anyone know how to do this please? Can anyone advise what I'm doing wrong?
Your help is much appreciated.
Many thanks
Mike
