should chess.com hand out titles?

I was thinking if on chess.com if your over 2500 in rapid you can get the cgm (chess.com grandmaster) now to be eligible you have to play for at least a year. Then you can send your request and if its approved you get the title kinda like how fide online hands titles out.  

Sounds like a lot of effort for very little gain. People would take that title as seriously as the Arena titles that you can pay FIDE for.

I don't think I would want any online chess title as it would never be legitimate enough, compared with an over the board title earned from a over the board tournament, those are the only titles worth playing for , just imagine framing certificate for some online chess achievement , i be too embarrassed to want to show it off!? Now winning a local chess grand prix event at a congress now yes be proud of that!

Yes chess.com gimmick, a worthless title, we had one of those walk into our chess club, said he had earned this and that online, I told him they are not legitimate or any online ratings, if he feels he was at the level to play for our county first team in Div 1 he boasted he was so I pared him against our board 4 and out of 5 games he only drew 2 losing 3 and stormed out!?

Chess.com could also try out even more ridiculous and pompeous titles; like Fat Master, Big Master, Giant Master, Sub Master, Regional Master, Master Master, School Master, Pre Master, Post Master, Ongoing Master, Tiny Master, Kid Master, Baby Master, Senile Master, Smart Master, Genius Master, Solar System Master, etc.
