I usually always sign my name, however I doubt that it is neccessary since it is in the heading...Just a matter of personality, I guess.
"Signing" posts.

I don't sign my posts, but I do sign my messages
Ditto. If I sign something, it was addressed to someone specific. If it doesn't say "Hi, (insert name here)" at the top, it probably won't have my name on the bottom.

I am not sure at all why people sign their posts, but I feel as if they have slightly more authority than they would have when they do, so perhaps that may be the reason. On the other hand, that may just be me; I have noticed that many well-known forum posters on the internet do this (although there are exceptions) and perhaps that is what gives me this feeling. Anyway, I do not sign my username at the end. Although I consider it a sign of authority, I usually do not have any and I also consider typing it at the end of each post a waste.

Unless it is a verifiable, digital signature, what's to stop somebody else forging it?

indeed I doubt chess.com would have FDA part 11 compliant signatures.

Someoneorother is about to say:
There is some rationale to post-signing posts - provided they also pre-signed.
When it comes to nested quoting, it makes the whole thing less confusing e.g.

Loosen your belt. Now put your hands down your trousers. Those thin, stick-like objects you can feel are your legs.
That's a bit close to the bone, don't you think?
That's how it should look.

Hello chess.com!
I've noticed something about each member's posts: they put there name on the bottom of their post, or they don't. ADK seems to always end his post with
ADK
Do you put that name at the end, (signing) or not?
I don't usually do it, but in my group (where I am admin ☺) I sign.
