Is there a way of seeing all of a members blog posts from one page (with previous/next navigation available if there are lots of posts).  At the moment if I want to provide a link to my blog I'm not sure how to do it, other than link to individual blog entries.

I hope this makes sense!  If you can do this already, forgive me.

erik

great ideas guys!

sonofpearl, you can already do this: http://www.chess.com/blog/member/SonofPearl

:)

Thanks Erik! There are so many features it's easy to miss them! :)

Is it possible to list members by number of points?Smile

SonofPearl
How about an option to start opinion polls in the forums? (the ability to provide options so members can vote and the totals are added up).Smile
erik
polls are coming soon! :)

The "Most Recent Post" column is nice and useful but somewhat confusing. It tells you the Author of the  first post in the thread and perhaps you would like to the the ID of the person posting the last reply in the thread (did that make sense?).

Membership here seems to be growing quickly and it occurred to me that as it grows it could become harder for members to find the contributions that really interest them.  Therefore I have a few suggestions. Smile

The ability to 'rate' a contribution from 1 to 5.  A bit like you can rate products on Amazon from 1 to 5 stars.  This should help make it easier to find good stuff.

The ability to 'recommend' a contribution.  I think this is probably an alternative to the above idea.  Instead of rating a contribution you could just recommend it, and the number of recommendations is added up and shown.  I think I prefer the 'rate' idea, but I'm not sure.

The ability to 'share' a contribution.  If you like a contribution there could be an option to share it by telling your friends on the site.  The link would allow you to send a message (perhaps a standard 'check this out!' could be filled in the message box) to any or all of your friends.

The ability to thank a member.  If a member likes a contribution he/she could thank the person who contributed it.  The number of "thank you's'" would give an indication of who is helpful on the site.

If any of these are possible it would be great.  Knowing you lot, you probably have stuff like this lined up anyway!!! Laughing

PS - I agree with fabror about the 'most recent post' idea. Smile

On many other forums, if you amend a post after someone has replied to it, then a little note to that affect is added to the bottom of the post to make people aware that it has been changed.  Perhaps that would be a useful safeguard for the future?

SonofPearl

It would be nice if you could quote another post in a new post.  Also, it would be useful if you could save drafts of blog posts.

I don't ask for much do I? Laughing

I would suggest adding an 'advanced' search feature to the member profiles area.

For example, having the ability to search for people by FIDE/USCF rating, people from a certain country, male/female, etc, could be very useful. It would make it easier for people to find someone of similar skill they can play with.

All of SonofPearl's ideas sound real good.. add all of that stuff (and the ability to play against a human online), and I have to say that the site will be perfect :)
News

you guys didn't notice that you can rate the news and articles? just rollover the stars at the bottom of the article...

as for the other stuff? it's all in the to-do list :(

SonofPearl

Thanks for pointing out the 5-star rating system for contributions. Embarassed

It doesn't really stand out if you don't know where it is.  I expect lots of people are missing them completely - not many articles seem to be rated compared to how many people are reading them.  Perhaps it could be made a little more obvious?  I'm not sure how - a bigger font or different colour perhaps?  Maybe a bit of text saying 'rate this (article/news item)'

Is there a way of setting the time on your personal settings on chess.com, so that the times shown are local times?  Thanks. Smile
