Site Feeling Faster?

I have a high speed cable connection.  Not sure what you changed in the last few days, but using Firefox web browser it is much slower now than a few days ago.  The top half of the page loads pretty quickly, then I wait for 30 seconds or more for the other half to appear and any graphics load last.

Internet explorer has not changed much in response time.

I am not a Premium Mem. but there is a notable quickness when I go page to page.

LOL, that's exactly what I was thinking.  I've never had an issue with page load times...they've been fantastic.

Yes, very responsive here!

lol, that would be an interesting psychological experiment: take the site offline for 30 minutes while doing absolutely nothing, and then see how many feel the site is faster Tongue out

haha. nope. this was a real improvement. we can tell in the stats. :D but maybe next time.... who knows ;)
TheGrobe

Definitely faster.

A Relevant Anecdote:

I worked on a piece of client-side software once that had performance problems.  When we dug into it we found that there really wasn't much that could be done to improve the performance itself, but there was an opportunity to turn the mouse pointer back to an arrow (from an hourglass) earlier.  The pointer still wouldn't work, but it would be an arrow.

The complaints stopped immediately.

it was slow or just nonresponsive for most of the day for me (8:15 AM-about 2:30 PM) it got faster though after the upgrade this afternoon as far as I can tell

i hate to say it, but no, not really

here's another anecdote to follow thegrobe while we're telling stories.

my friend worked as a waiter a chain restaurant (let's call it PeachHornet's) and they served "honest drinks" which means weak mixed drinks that keep you honest i guess.   people would regularly complain about how their daiquiri was virgin or didn't have enough alcohol in it.  The protocol at this store was 1.take the drink back to the bartender. 2. the bartender takes a new straw and dips it into a rum bottle. 3. the bartender pours the drink into a new glass and replaces the old straw. 4. the waiter takes it back and asks if it's better.

the 1st sip is much stronger and the customer thanks the waiter.

I agree. Firefox on Ubuntu Linux seems to be much slower; I wasn't able to do my usual instantaneous load up.

Sometimes blitz (like now), but it's very slow this afternoon.. Maybe depends on the load of the web.. Thanks, erik!

Sunday, 8 pm, Pacific Standard Time.  I just uploaded a game segment in the more puzzles news group.  Took like a second.  That was amazing!
