Blinded by the Knight - Springsteen
Oh, are we to be crediting the recording artists or the song writers?

I suppose that's optional. Springsteen wrote and recorded "Blinded by the Light" a couple of years before Manfred Mann covered it.
Is that right? I didn't realize he'd ever recorded it -- I thought he wrote it for Manfred Mann much like David Bowie wrote "All the Young Dudes" for Mott the Hoople (and only recorded it himself after they had).
The story I read was that Bowie signed on Mott the Hoople to his recording company and the standard deal for new bands was that they got their pick of a Bowie song. They chose "All the Young Dudes". That would indicate it already had been written. Not sure about the recording chronology but the MTH version is certainly the better.
