What is vastly more annoying are the people who not only decide to hold up a single match from finishing, but those who chose to stall an entire tournament - there's a guy in the 1401 - 1600 of the 6th chess.com tournament who is still on vacation and hasnt played a single move despite the current round being 85% or so complete.
sore LOOSERS

Surely the time limit on either the game or move is the control on deliberately stalling a game and therefore match or competition. If you join a 7 day move competition you must expect every move to take 7 days, any moves that are made faster are a bonus.
If there is a problem with the vacation rule, rather than complaining here, why not propose an optional amendment for tournaments. Then you can enter tournaments that will progress in a way you want.

You dont get it?

Stalling is legal, but one shouldn't base decisions on whether something is legal or not. On a larger scale the thought of basing action on its legallity is ridiculous. For example, treating somebody poorly because the law doesn't stop you. If law is basis for your thinking you should reflect your ethics.

Really now, we are going to start analyzing how people spell while they are typing comments! State your opinion on the subject at hand....Whats next, you going to grammar check them too!

And about that timing issue, just go to another game, time will run out sooner or later...It may become annoying, but in the case of tournaments, just join ones where no vacation time is allowed or start your own with time regulations. Some people like to really really really evaluate their last move.

omg, if you people would spend your energy on something productive the world would be a much better place.
i am laughingknight and i approve of this message.

WHATS WITH ALL THE PLUMS THAT LET THE TIME RUN OUT WHEN THEY ARE LOOSING ? IYS ONLY A GAME.
lol plums
plums are sour but sometimes sweet.

Stool looseners.
lol he said stool looseners hahaha
Actually, I wrote it.
lol she said Stool loseners hahaha
lol they said stool loseners hahaha
whom ever said it made a funny.
Care for a game?

I resign when I have no more useful moves, I think that's the best way to maximize your chances of using an opponents blunders when they are winning and not being a jerk or a loser.
its ok to play on for practice ,my point is when you are 1 or 2 moves from mate and the plum stops playing and lets the time run out!!!!!!!
i agree i never give up but i wont sign off if the game could soon be over

In a rated game if you win because you have stalled (and opp decided to resign lets say) you have a higher rating and you will be more likely to play opps out of your league so really you will not gain anything by it. So, you have stalled to increase your chances of winning but, really you have increased your chances of losing.

Once again! THERE MUST NOT BE ALLOWED ANYBODY TO TAKE
AN AUTOMATIC (AND ALMOST UNLIMITED!) VACATION AS "A PRIVILEGED MEMBER"
WHEN IT IS HIS MOVE!
I AM WRITING MY COMMENTS ON THIS ISSUE FOR WEEKS WITH NO RESPONCE!
TO ALL WHO SUPPOSE THAT THE PRACTICE WITH ABUSING VACATION's CONDITIONS MUST BE STOPPED:
PLEASE VOICE YOUR OPINION TO CHESS.COM STUFF!!
MAY BE THE UNPROPER PRACTICE WILL COME TO END?!
Alex
I try to remember those unsporting chess player wannabes but my memory is like a software with corrupted address. It's there but recalling it is a herculean task. So I end up playing them again..
Yes I am the same! what surprises me is the sheer amount of them?
