State/Province/Prefecture/County etc flags instead of Country Flag

As an American, when I play other Americans I always ask what state they are playing out of because the USA is massive. When I look at my geography stats I wonder; "Have I actually played someone out of Alaska?" So I'v always thought it would be interesting if instead of a USA flag next their name it could be their state flag. Then the stats could also reflect this. America would be subdivided into 50 states, showing you where chess players are in the USA and if there lot in your own state. But the whole world is massive. Why not apply this to countries that have flags for individual states or provinces such as Japan, Brazil, the UK etc.? This way we could see more flags and learn more about geography. For privacy a new setting can be introduced so player can fine tune how much information they want to give away on the UI; whether the UI would show a country's flag, a state flag, both flags, no flag, or the international flag. Hovering over a state flag would read "Iowa, USA" or "Iwate Prefecture, Japan" or "Sutherland, Scotland, UK" So I wonder if anyone else would like this. Personally I think flags are cool and I want to see more of them. If we like the idea then lets push for it!
